The fourth annual West Virginia Operation Lifesaver Golf Tournament was held in September at the Hidden Valley Golf Course
in Glen Daniel. Trophies were awarded to the top three teams in the scramble tournament. There were also prizes given
to the people who had the longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin. The winning team was Pate King, Gary Miller,
Mike Huff and Kenny Blankenship with an 11 under par 59. In second place was Larry Powers, Bernard Bailey, Mike Browning and
Joe Green with 10 under par 60. The third place team consisted of R.L. Wilkes, Rick Richards, Alan Hammitt, Sr. and Alan Hammitt,
Jr. with an eight under par 62. The longest drive was won by Kenny Blankenship. Closest to the pin was taken by Gary Miller
who dropped the ball 33 inches from the pin. Bernard Bailey had the longest putt with a putt of 13 feet one inch. The
tournament was sponsored by Goal Technical, Delegate Richard Browning, G. Todd Houck, Pat's Fashions, Pineville Furniture,
Pineville Pharmacy, Senator Mike Green, Senator Billy Wayne Bailey, Hometown Subaru-Kia, Jody Cook Nationwide Insurance, Wilbur
Bolt, Spring Valley Golf Course, Twin Falls Golf Course, CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern Corp, Twisted Gun Golf Course
and Pocahontas Land Company. All proceeds from the tournament are used to purchase Operation Lifesaver presenter materials.
