Norfolk Southern Corp. recently brought their Operation Lifesaver Train to West Virginia. The train operated from Charleston
to Mason County and returned. State, county and local police officers were aboard the excursion as well as many local, county
and state officials. Officers were also on the ground at the crossings when the train passed giving citations to those
who either drove around the gates or drove past flashing lights. The officers wrote two tickets during the trip. According
to State Coordinator John Perry, "This is much better than when we ran this train before. Three years ago the officers wrote
17 tickets, so it seems like our message is getting out and having some effect."
