State Fair of West Virginia 2009

Nearly 40 West Virginia Operation Lifesaver presenters came to the State Fair this year.....in shifts. The presenters manned the WVOL booth in the West Virginia Building for 12 hours each day for nine days. "I'm really proud of our presenters.", said WVOL State Coordinator John Perry, "They really showed up when we needed them and several of the folks worked more than one shift." The State Fair is the biggest event in the state and is held each year in August at Fairlea.

While at the fair WVOL presenters spoke to thousands of people. The people came from all over West Virginia, Virginia and several other states. They provided those who stopped by the booth some great safety tips about how and when to cross railroad tracks without being injured or killed.

Perry added, "We made a lot of contacts for future presentations and those calls started coming in the week after the fair was over. Our presenters did a great job."
