Friends of Coal Auto Fair

For the first time West Virginia Operation Lifesaver representatives attended the annual Friends of Coal Auto Fair in Beckley. The annual event usually draws around 100,000 people and over 600 automobiles. According to WVOL State Coordinator, John Perry, "We have never had the opportunity to be a part of this event. We have talked with many people and made several contacts for presentations." Perry added, "Thanks to the folks at West Virginia Insurance and Fairchild International we were able to attend and hope to come back every year."

In addition to several volunteers, the WVOL Mobile Education Unit was at the fair and a handcar was part of our display. Perry noted, "The handcar proved to be a big hit. A lot of people came by to see it and have their picture taken on it." WVOL's Sly Fox also made an appearance.
