West Virginia Operation Lifesaver announced the 2009 awards at the annual Presenters' Meeting in Barboursville on April 1. WVOL State Coordinator, John Perry said, "WVOL had another good year in 2009, and we like to acknowledge those folks who made it happen. Without our great group of volunteers we would have never gotten close to 200,000 contacts." Perry added, "The meeting also allows us to go over the stats from last year and hold a short training session."

The top award for presenters is the Presenter of the Year Award and for 2009 two presenters shared the award. Roger "Quincy" Adams of Norfolk Southern and David Farley of CSX Transportation each did 129 presentations. Farley is the Public Safety Coordinator with CSX Transportation in Huntington and Adams is a Norfolk Southern engineer in Bluefield.
